Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Emanuel Missionary Baptist Church for Amber Nichole Davenport, 19, Gadsden, who died Saturday, April 16, 2011. The Rev. Charles Posey will officiate. Burial will be in Lincoln Hill Memorial Park. Watson and Sons Funeral Home directing.
A loving mother, a kindly neighbor, a loyal friend, a dedicated daughter and granddaughter ... these were the characteristics of Amber Nichole "Nikki" Davenport, the only child of Regina Davenport, born Aug. 20, 1991, in Gadsden.
Amber was reared in Gadsden and educated in the Gadsden City schools. She was a 2009 graduate of Gadsden City High School. Amber knew the Lord and was reared in the Mount Pilgrim Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. Herman L. Spruill. Amber was a beautiful, cheerful, kind-hearted, loving, courageous, and shy little lady who was loved by her family and many friends.
She met an untimely death on Saturday, April 16, 2011, when she fell victim to domestic violence. Those left to cherish lovable memories are her sweet little son, Jamari Whiteside; her loving and devoted mother, Regina A. Davenport; her earthly daddy, Anthony Cook; her biological daddy, Tony Patmon; her devoted grandmother, Maxine Davenport, all of Gadsden; her great-grandmother, Mildred Smiley, Forestville, Md.; her sisters and brothers, Shanteka Snow, Iesha LaShay Buggs, Kenya Patmon, Tony Marquise Patmon Jr. and Joshua Ocie Patmon; her aunts and uncles, Eddie and Janice Douglas, Robert and Jan Avery, Alvin Smiley, Annie Ruth Buggs, Albert Felton, Mary Ballard, Norma and John Dillingham; her special cousins, Marquita Davenport, Kimberly Rollins, Bobby Avery, Trey Douglas, Avery Rollins, J'Una Rollins, Robert Avery III, Samantha Duncan, Shar'Dae Byers, Barbara Byers, Arretta Thomas, Linda Wright, Gwendolyn Buggs Alford, Leslie Buggs Fearn, Anthony Buggs, Alicia Buggs Lee, Carla Buggs, Tracie Buggs Guyton, Angela Buggs Leach, Allen Buggs, Frank Byers, DeWayne Byers, Phillip Byers, Tara Byers, Naomi LaWanda Williams, Michael Byers, Aubrey Byers, Anthony Wright and Timothy Wright.
