KINGSTON, N.H. — Mrs. Constance J. (Reed) Bernier, 65, of Kingston, died Saturday, Dec. 26, 2009 at Exeter Hospital, after being stricken at work earlier in the day.

Born in Beverly, she was the daughter of the late Lewis and Evelyn (Hills) Reed. She graduated Beverly High School and attended a local business college and worked as a secretary first at Beverly National Bank and later at the Andover branch of Merrimack Valley National Bank. She was later employed at St. Christopher's Church in Plaistow and Hampstead, N.H. and as the board secretary of the Hampstead School District. She also worked as the secretary of the Stratham Community Church and was presently employed for over 20 years as the secretary of the First Baptist Church of Plaistow. She also worked at Ames Department Store in Stratham as well as a clerk at Brooks Pharmacy and Rite Aid Pharmacy in Stratham.

A former member of St. Christopher's Church of Hampstead, where she was active with the Episcopal Church Women's group, she also served as the Executive Board secretary.

Mrs. Bernier enjoyed crocheting, needlepoint, and flower arranging and was active as a facilitator of the Marriage Encounter program and as a member and supporter of the Christian Organization of Plaistow (COOP).

She is survived by her husband of 38 years, Raymond A. Bernier; four daughters and three sons-in-law, Tammy Bernier-Gagnon of Lowell, Jo and James Zurwell of Manchester, N.H., Randi and Willie Graham of Orlando, Fla., and Rae and Lawrence Tucker of Manchester; four granddaughters; two sisters, Sandra Brown and Beverly Bibber; and nieces and nephews.

ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial service to be held on Wednesday, Dec. 30, 2009 at 9:30 a.m. at the First Baptist Church, Main Street, Plaistow. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to The American Diabetes Association, 1701 North Beauregard St., Alexandria, VA 22311. Arrangements are under the direction of Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, 116 Main St., Plaistow, N.H.
