Charlene S. Messenger, age 69, passed from this life and entered a new realm of life Wednesday, April 20, 2011 at her home in Riverton, KS.

Charlene was born November 19, 1941, in Webb City, Mo to the union of Stan and Lula (Merrick) Amos. They both preceded her in death.

She lived in the Carl Junction area until she was united in marriage to Rusty Messenger, May 14, 1977. They made their home in Riverton, KS.

Charlene worked for H&W Potato Chips, and Sperry Vicker's for 17 years until retirement in 1986.

She was a member of the Forest Park Baptist Church, Joplin, Mo.

She was a member of the Galena Beta Sigma Phi Sorority since 1977. She was actively involved in both and developed long lasting friendships.

Charlene is survived by her husband Rusty Messenger of the home. Daughters, Elayne Wade of Baxter Springs, KS, Jayma Lewis and husband, Dave, of Baxter Springs, KS, Mary Beth Smith and husband, Bruce, of Baxter Springs, KS, and Judy Messenger of Kansas City, MO. One sister, Marjorie George. One brother, Terry Amos. Eight grandchildren, Kyle Wade and wife Randi, Megan Wade, Austin Brown, Addie Brown, Cameron Smith, Preston Smith and wife Dara, Cheyenne Lewis, and Dylan Lewis. Two great grandchildren, Braydon and Bradley Wade.

Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m, Friday, April 22, 2011 at Forest Park Baptist Church, Joplin, Mo.

Burial will follow in the Baxter Springs Cemetery.

Bro. Frank Settle will officiate.

Family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6:30-8:00 p.m at Derfelt's Baxter Chapel, Baxter Springs, KS.

Pallbearers for the service are Kyle Wade, Cameron Smith, Preston Smith, Bruce Smith, Austin Brown, Dave Lewis, and Ryan Sorell. Honorary pallbearers are DeWayne Treece, Max Martin, Maynard Mitchell, Keith Wade, Wes Brown, and Kenny George.
