I have no memory of my grandma Thomas. I was a baby, when she passed away. I remember mom saying that when she was a child, her mother would speak in German, when she didn't want the children to listen in on her conversation with their father.
Elsie Lydia Weinkauf was born to Henry and Emilie (Conrad) Weinkauf on November 12, 1901. Her parents were born in Germany. Elsie lived near Holland,Minnesota all her life. She worked at the People's Co-operative Store in Holland, before marriage. Elsie married William Henry Thomas on February 15,1923. In this union they had four children. Elsie died of Bone Cancer on October 26, 1955. She lays at rest in the Holland Cemetery, Holland Minnesota.
