Wilbur Daniel Cutler, son of Daniel Tisdale Cutler and his wife Elmira Dudley Cutler, married Alma Kelly, farmed, owned a auto dealership in Onawa, Iowa, and raised four sons: Kelly, Merle, Ralph, and Raymond. When Alma became mysteriously ill, he took her to the hospital in Sioux City, and traveled back and forth to visit her. It was icy March weather, 1924, and his car, a Model T, had no side windows, only curtains, so he caught pneumonia. He was placed in a room in the same hospital, St. Joseph's, down the hall from his wife. Alma died March 21st, and they kept her "on ice" as Will struggled to survive. He died a week later, April 1st. They were buried with a double funeral service, which 2,500 people attended. They left their four sons orphaned.
