US Congressman. Born in Hunterstown Province of Quebec, Canada, he moved to Covington, Kentucky, with his parents in 1874. There, he graduated from Martin’s Academy, in 1886 and from the law department of Indiana University at Bloomington, in 1898. He was employed in the United States Internal Revenue Service, (1899-1905) and was director of music in the Covington public schools, (1913-17). During World War I, he served as a secretary in the Y.M.C.A. welfare service and after the war returned to his position with the Covington schools. In 1929, he was elected as a Republican to the Seventy-first Congress, serving until 1931. Not a candidate for reelection, he engaged in the oil and gasoline business. He died at age 82 in Park Hills, Kentucky.
