Peter H Stolberg was born in Skog parish. In 1876 he married Sarah Larson, daughter of Lars Olson. She was born in Ludvicka, Dalarna, Sweden on 28-Dec-1846, emigrated in 1869, and died age 83 years, 10 months, and 5 days.

She was a charter member of the Lutheran church in Harris. Peter arrived in Chicago County in 1871 and was county Sheriff for 6 years, and county Attorney for 12 years. He was also Judge of District Court of the 19th Judicial District, attended Gustavus Adolphus College, and was a charter member of the Lutheran church in Harris. He owned quite a bit of land in three townships and may have served in the Civil War.

Peter supposedly served in the 3rd Minnesota Infantry Regiment, but I [Earl W Leaf] could not find his name in any of the companies of that regiment. There might be some inaccurate information somewhere, since Peter doesn't seem to have arrived in Minnesota until the early 1870's - five years after the war ended. It doesn't seem likely that he would have joined the Minnesota Third if he didn't arrive until that long after the war was over.

Additional notes: I {Earl W Leaf] stated that Peter was born 7-Dec-1846. I notice that in the 1895 MN State census his age is given as 46 (born 1849). If the census record is correct, he would have been 18 when the war ended in 1865 and couldn't have joined before 1864, when he was 17. Very few people born in 1849 served in the Civil War, thought it was certainly possible to pick up 17-year-old recruits as late as 1864.
