Ethel was born on July 26, 1929 in Cook County Ga., a daughter of the late George and Mary Hopson.
She was a long-time area resident and worked as a weaver for FieldCrest-Cannon Mills for many years. Ethel was a member of Eastwood Baptist Church. She loved fishing, gardening and canning. Ethel was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She will be dearly missed.
In addition to her parents, Ethel was preceded in death by a grandson, 2 brothers and 5 sisters.
Survivors include her husband, "Gene" Allman of the family home, her son, Vernon Joseph Sharpe (Linda) of Davidson, her daughters, Judy Sharpe Warlick (Allen) of Mooresville and Lillian Royal (Gene) of Miller's Creek, and also 6 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grand-children.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. today, April 20, 2011 at Whitley's Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Randall Ritchie officiating. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. The family received friends from 6 until 8 p.m. on Tuesday, April 19, 2011 at Whitley's Funeral Home.
