memorial stone says she was born in 1848 but Louis's obituary says she was born in 1855.
Obituary
To this union were born eleven children. Her husband and six children survive her. The children are Perlina M. Burns, Weaubleau; Caroline N. Gaddy, Turlock California; V. U. Draelants, Caplinger Mills, Olive Ellerman, Ft Scott Kansas; Effie E. Nance, Collins, and J. A. Draelants of Richfield Nebraska.
All the children were present at the time of her death except Mrs. Ellerman and Mrs. Gaddy.
She was a kind and loving disposition, so willing to make sacrifices for those she loved. She united with the Baptist Church at Flat Rock in Cedar County in 1885 and later moved her membership to Collins where she remained a faithful Christian until death came.
She leaves to mourn her departure a husband, six children, twenty-one grandchildren, and sixteen great-grandchildren, other relatives, and many friends and neighbors.
Funeral services were held at the Baptist Church at Collins amid a host of sorrowing relatives and friends by Rev. Birdsong. Her text was from 31st chapt. Of Proverbs. She was laid to rest in the Freeman cemetery to await the Resurrection Morn..
Farewell, mother, thou hath left us
And our loss we deeply feel,
But ‘tis God who has bereft us,
He can all our sorrows heal
