The text says John E. Wright, b. about 1765, was born in Montgomery, Alabama. I believe text should say Montgomery, Virginia, since his family was living in Virginia. My 4th great grandfather, Perrin Wright married my 4th great grandmother, Mary Ann Horton, in 1805 in Montgomery, Virginia. Thanks, Joe Roberson

The father of Perrin Wright, Jr. follows in commentary.
" Perrin M. Wright, Sr. - New River in Virigina"
In western North Carolina, the New River starts as a trickle and winds its way north through southwest Virigna. It changes from a quite running river to spectular white-water as it confronts the western-most ridges of the Allegheny Mountains and the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia. The western boarder of Montgomery Co. Virginia, adjoins New River. This is where Perrin Wright's parents were living when he was born in 1784. The John E. Wright family had settled there for a time. They were living near the major gap in the upper New River which was where The Great Indian Warpath ( Warrior's Path ) reached the "borders of wilderness." ( Wilderness Road) A Revolutionary War veteran, Issac " Old English " Horton and his wife, Hannah (Ferris), moved their family to the New River area prior to 1805. Their daughter, Mary Horton, was born in New York State cira 1790. Perrin and Mary were married in 1805 in Montgomery County Virginia. The Wrights, Hortons and other earlier settlers watched as many early emigrants immediately following the Revolutionary War began removing from New England states. Their dangerous journey through the mountainous country of the Wilderness Road started at the wild and rough New and Kanawha Rivers. Later, Wright and Horton family members emigrated through Cumberland Gap to Lawrence and Wayne Co Tennessee, which adjoin the northern Alabama boarder.
