Born in Aylesford, as was his sister Nina, David along with his sister and mother Marie Eva Demers Anderson came to Boston,Massachusetts in 1902. By 1910 they were in Marie Eva's birthplace Westbrook, Maine. David would marry Saidie Graffam just a few months before being sent oversea to fight in World War I. Sadie and David would have 5 children, Dorothy, Wesley, Nina(died as a newborn), Edward, and Donald before Sadie's untimely death in 1940. David would marry twice more; Annie Casey and Hazel Seavey.
