Adopted daughter of James Vernon Layton and Elisa Miller, wife of James Isaac Davis, whom she married on November 19, 1895 in Yaphank, NY and mother of Harvey Corey, Malcolm, Vernon L., Curtis James and Marcia Davis (married Husing).

In 1875, Alice E. Leyton, aged 4, was living on Lafayette Avenue, Brooklyn, with her parents, James B. Leyton, age 58, a carpenter, and Elisa M. Leyton, aged 57, shown to be their adopted daughter, with Emmett Leyton, aged 30, a carpenter, and Abbie J. Leyton, aged 20, a dressmaker.

In 1880, A.E. Layton, aged 9, was living in Brooklyn, NY, with her parents, James V. Layton, aged 64, and Eliza N. Layton, with Emmett Layton, aged 34, and Abbie Layton, aged 28. Her father was shown to be a carpenter.

In 1892, Alice E. Layton, aged 19, was living in Brooklyn, NY, with her father, Emmet Layton, aged 48, in the home of her grandmother, Eliza Layton, aged 75, with uncle, Stephen W. Layton, aged 46, and cousins, Eliza N. Layton, aged 15, and Joseph Layton, aged 14.

Obituary - Mrs. Alice E. Davis, 89, of 49 Barteau Avenue, Blue Point, died last Thursday in Brookhaven Memorial Hospital.

Born in Brooklyn, she had lived in Blue Point for 65 years. She was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church of Patchogue, Old Glory Chapter, Order of Eastern Star of Patchogue, and the Patchogue Amaranth. The was the last charter member of the Marion Branch of the International Sunshine Society. She had been a member of the Blue Point School Board for 25 years.

She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Marcia Husing of Blue Point; three sons, Curtis of Blue Point, Malcolm of Nokomis, Fla., and Vernon of Somerville, N.J.; nine grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.

Amaranth and Eastern Star Services were held Saturday night at the Ruland Funeral Home, Patchogue. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday in St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Patchogue, with the Rev. Richard C. Chapin, rector, officiating. Interment was in Blue Point Cemetery.

Also - Mrs. Alice E. Davis of Blue Point died last Thursday and funeral services were held on Sunday afternoon at the Ruland Funeral Home in Patchogue. Interment was in the Blue Point Cemetery.

Mrs. Davis is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Marcia Husing, and by three sons, Vernon, Curtis and Malcolm Davis.
