Two days after his election as commander of Federal Post No. 197, American Legion, Reginald Leigh White, 42-year-old customs employee, died at his home, 2701 Dante Street, Wednesday at 11 a.m. of a sudden heart attack.
Mr. White, who was chosen commander of the legion post Monday night, was employed as a clerk in the office of the comptroller of customs in New Orleans. A veteran of the world war, he is survived by his widow, the former Miss Birdie Williams, and a son, Richard White.
Funeral services for Mr. White will be held this morning at 8:45 o’clock at the funeral home of Tharp-Sontheimer-Tharp, Inc., 4127 South Claiborne Avenue. Following the services the body will be taken at 10 a.m. on an Illinois Central System train to Gillsburg, Miss., for interment.
