The recent death of David M. Dunn recalls to the mind of old settlers the time when he left Logansport as the second lieutenant of the Cass county volunteers bound for the Mexican war. This was forty three years ago. There were ninety-two men in the organization, and they were carried in thirty-three wagons to Indianapolis, and then to Edinburg, where they boarded the then only railroad in the state and were taken to Madison. The remainder of the trip to Mexico was made by boat. The death of Mr. Dunn removes the last commissioned officer of the company. - Logansport Pharos.
