Son of Rufus and Ida James.
Spouse: Elizabeth Miles James.
Married May 25, 1940 at Keytesville.
He attended MU majoring in agriculture. He returned home to his parents pecan farm. He and Congressman Norwood Creason worked to name Brunswick the Pecan Capitol of Mo. He holds three US patents on pecan and hican trees. He organized the North Central Pecan Growers Association. He was the past president of the National Nut Growers Association, and a member of the Southeast Pecan Growers Association. He was past president of the Businessmen's Association of Brunswick. He also served on the Brunswick School Board. In 1970 he was chosen by MU College of Agriculture for leadership in agriculture. He was an honorary colonel under Gov. Warren Hearnes and a member of Jerry Littons Congressional Club. He was inducted into the Tree Farm Association by the Department of Conversation and received the Tree Farm Award and Sign.
