US Congressman. Born in Jamestown, Michigan, he engaged in agricultural and mercantile pursuits, and was elected Jamestown Township clerk eight years in succession. He served as a member of the Michigan House of Representatives, (1885-87, 1891-92). In 1892, he was elected as a Democratic to the Fifty-third Congress, serving until 1895. He declined to be a candidate for re-nomination, began operating a dairy farm in Grand Rapids, Michigan and was secretary of Michigan Union Silver Party in 1899. Moving to Washington State in 1904, he engaged in agricultural pursuits and was twice elected Mayor of Kennewick.
