U.S. Congressman. During World War I, he served as Gunner's Mate, Third Class, in the United States Navy (1917-19). After the war, he graduated from Washington State College in 1925, plus engaged in fruit growing, packing, storing and shipping. Entering politics, he was elected as a Republican to the Seventy-eighth Congress and to the next ten succeeding Congresses, serving from 1943 to 1965. An unsuccessful candidate for reelection, he died of a heart attack while on a trip in Manila, Philippines.
