He was born in Broughton March 24, 1899, a son of the late Edward and Gertrude (Knowles) Gholson. He was retired in 1962 as a store manager for the E. Blankenship Co. in Carbondale. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Mt. Vernon.
He leaves his wife, Ruby Carbondale, two sisters, Mrs. C. R. Daniel of Athens, Ga., and Mrs. John Elza of Panama City Fla.
Graveside services were held at 2:30 p.m, Sunday, July 28, with Elder T. Leo Dodd officiating at the Gholson cemetery, Broughton. There was no other service.
