Robert William Newcomer Jr., 57, passed away on Thursday, February 11, 2010. RW was born on December 2, 1952 to Robert W. Newcomer Sr. and Juanita Newcomer. He graduated from Richard King High School in 1970. RW was retired but his career as a General Manager had him running such businesses as Landry’s Seafood House, Corpus Christi Greyhound Race Track and Captain Boomers Seafood and Grog. RW enjoyed golfing, spending time with his children and grandchildren but most of all he enjoyed doing projects around the house with his wife Diana. He will always be remembered for his quiet nature and his devotion to his family. He often commented that we never need a T.V. set, because we were enough entertainment for anyone.

He is preceded in death by his father, RW Newcomer, Sr.; his favorite brother-in-law, John James; mother-in-law, Billie James.

RW was a loving husband, father, grandfather and son.
He is survived by his wife of forty years, Diana Newcomer; six children, Robert III (Sharley), Scott Newcomer, John (Tabitha), Colby (Elizabeth), Jeremy Newcomer and MyLeah Newcomer; 13 grandchildren; mother, Juanita Newcomer; sisters, Deborah (James) Newcomer Linebarger, Belinda Newcomer Nettleton; brothers, Gene (Carolyn) Newcomer, Michael (Linda) Newcomer; as well as other family members.

RW leaves behind a legacy to his family, “Love one another, respect each other.” These are the rules he lived his life by, they served him well. He regarded his self a wealthy man by his standards. “When next we meet my legs will be whole and strong and I will walk you through the pearly gates. Diana, you and I will dance through.”

Visitation will be held from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 16, 2010 at Seaside Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 17, 2010 at Seaside Chapel.
