Eva Lucas Heckard, age 92, died Saturday, July 21, 2001 after a lengthy illness. She was born May 13, 1909 in Chernykhivtsi Ukraine to Albert and Mary Lucas(Lukasiewicz). She and her sister, Joann, immigrated to the United States in January 1925, entering through Ellis Island. She married H.A. Heckard of Oklahoma City in 1935.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, H.A.; one son, Roy and one sister, Joann Zabsky. Survivors include her two sons, David Heckard and wife Carole of Oklahoma City, Raymond Heckard of Moore; three sisters, Mary Manek of Oklahoma City, Pauline Hargrove of Carrolton, Texas, and Alice Greer of Yardley, Pennsylvania; five grandchildren, Chris Heckard of Norman, Carolisa Heckard of Oklahoma City, Holly Rowan of Siloam Springs, Arkansas, Raymond Galen Heckard Jr. and wife of Bethany, Oklahoma, David Allen Heckard and wife of Prole, Iowa; and two great grandchildren, Chase Rowan and Matthew Heckard.

Eva was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother and will always be remembered by her family for her generosity, love for her family, sense of humor, love of flowers and wonderful Polish dishes served at family dinners. She will be greatly missed by her family and her friends at Bellevue Nursing Center. Services will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday July 24, 2001 in the Chapel of the Abbey Mausoleum at Rosehill Cemetery under the direction of McNeil's Mustang Funeral Services, Mustang, Oklahoma.

Eva immigrated to the United State aboard the ship named America. She boarded the ship in Berren Germany on January 21,1925 and landed at Ellis Island on January 26, 1925.
