The Gettysburg Times December 29, 1966

Charles W McDannell, 82, who had served as a Highland Twp. Supervisor, died Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 at his home on Orrtanna R.1, leaving more than 100 survivors.
He had been in declining health for the last three years. The Adams County coroner, Dr. C. G. Crist, said the death was caused by chronic myocrditis.
A son of the late Daniel and Barbara (Baker) McDannell, he was a lifelong resident of Adams County and was a member of the Mennonite Church in Mummasburg.
His first wife, the late Minnie Lauver, died in 1931.
Surviving are his second wife, the former Ruth Sentz; 12 children, Mrs. Mary Gigous, Gettysburg; Earl McDannell, Orrtanna R.1; Mrs. Ira Ogburn, Hyattsville, Md.; Mrs. Dwight Sites, Fairfield R.1; Raymond McDannell, Wilmington, Del; Miss Pauline McDannell, Orrtanna R.1; Melvin McDannell, Chambersburg; Russell McDannell, Hanover; Mrs. John Miller, Gettysburg R.5; Mrs. Marlene Painter, McKnightstown; Mrs. Edward Crouse, Littlestown, and S/Sgt. Robert McDannell, stationed at Okinawa, and two stepchildren, Mrs. Luther Miller, Gettysburg, and Mrs. Clifford Powell, Orrtanna R1.
Also surviving are 54 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren, three, Mrs. Mary Forsythe, Fairfield R.D.; Mrs. Annie McCracken, Gettysburg, and Mrs. Ellie Powell, Orrtanna, and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Sunday afternoon at 2:00 at the Wilson Funeral Home in Fairfield with the Rev. Forest Ogburn officiating. Interment will be made in Flohr’s Church Cemetery.
