Eleanor E. Chambers, 86, of Sebring, died Thursday, Oct. 2, 2008, at Alliance Community Hospital.

Born in Damascus on April 13, 1922, the daughter of the late Harris O. and Bernice (Ittner) Stanley, she graduated from West Branch Schools, Wheaton College with a degree in Christian education and received her master's in education from Westminster College. She was a former member of the Christ Presbyterian Church and Damascus Friends Church and currently attended Sebring Presbyterian Church. Eleanor taught kindergarten for over 30 years and retired from the North Canton School system.

Mrs. Chambers is survived by her two sons, Stanley V. Chambers of St. Louis, Mo., and Stephen D. Chambers of Palm Desert, Calif.; and a granddaughter, Stephanie Chambers, also of Palm Desert. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Richard V. Chambers, whom she married Jan. 16, 1946, and who died Feb. 21, 1978; and two brothers, Robert Stanley and Paul Stanley.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 5, 2008, at Bennett Chapel, Copeland Oaks in Sebring with David Parry officiating.
