Mrs. Mimie Johnson was born Mimie Pearson,in North Carolina. It seems that it may have been Morganton, NC. That is where Aunt Julia lived. I know of a sister, Julia Pearson for whom Mimie's daughter, Julia Johnson-Medley was named. I called Miss Mimie, Grandma. She was my great-grandmother. She married Charlie Johnson who I think was from South Boston Virginia. Granddaddy died in West Virginia from a headache; probably an aneurysm. Grandmother died at our home in Beckley, West Virginia in her bed; after a short illness. Her children were: Ed Harris, Willie, Robert, Andre and Andrea (twins), Harry, and Julia Johnson. Sister Julia Pearson-Largent (I think). Julia Johnson-Medley was the mother of my mother, Otelia Johnson-Washington.∼Miss Mimie was born to slave parents in Morganton, NC. I don't know her parents name. She was a Pearson. Her sisters were, Julia Pearson, Fannie Carter and more whom I don't know. She was the mother of Julia Johnson Medley, Willie Johnson, Harry Johnson, James E. Harris (Uncle Ed), Robert Johnson, Andre' and Andrea Johnson (twins). She lived the last years of her life with her daughter Julia and son-in-law Herbert Medley, Jr. When she passed away she was survived by: Julia (Herbert) Medley, Harry Johnson (Fannie), Ed Harris (Mary), granddaughter Otelia Johnson Washington, a host of grandchildren, great-grand children, sister Julia Pearson, Fannie Carter, and many more family and friends. She will always remain in my heart.
