Born to a farming family in northern Kansas, Mr. Rountree moved to Oakdale about 1929 with his parents and siblings. There the family rented and worked a farm for seven years before moving to Columbia where they continued farming.
Mr. Rountree owned the Columbia Garage and was a self-employed mechanic for 40 years.
He was a long-time pilot and a member of the Columbia Airport Pilots Association.
Mr. Rountree was survived by a niece, Darlene Ghiorso of Modesto, and many other nieces and nephews.
A graveside service was held at the Columbia City Cemetery with the Reverend Ken Hoover officiating.
