War I Vet, Dies
Frank W. Arter, seventy-two, 120 Walnut St., Columbia, died at Lebanon Veterans Hospital at 6:45 p.m. Thursday after a lengthy illness.
A veteran of World War I, he served with the American Expeditionary Forces, Company M, 316th Infantry.
Born in Northumberland County, he was the son of the late William and Susan Tolan Arter.
He was a social member of the Foresters of America and was last employed by the State Highway Department.
Surviving in addition to his widow, Lillian Clark Arter, are a son, Franklin H. Arter, of Columbia, S.C.; three grandchildren; two brothers, Eugen Arter, of Columbia, and George Arter, of Norristown; and a sister, Mrs. Mabel Burgess, of Reading.

Frank died of Hypostatic Pneumonia due to a Possible Embolism at the VA Hospital in Lebanon, Pennsylvania.
