MABEL C. FRYE

Mabel C. Frye, 68, Pierre, S.D., died Thursday, Aug. 30, 1990, at St. Mary's Hospital, at Pierre. She was born Feb. 4, 1922, at Fort Scott, the daughter of Alvin Joseph and Eva Elizabeth Greer Smith. She grew up in Fort Scott and attended the local schools. She married Donald E. Frye March 17, 1942.

Survivors include her husband, of Pierre; three sons, Gary L. Frye, Kansas City, Donald E. Frye Jr., Colorado Springs, Colo., and James P. Frye, Akron, Iowa; a daughter, Doris Y. Mercer, Myrtle Beach, S. C.; three sisters, Margaret Weatherbie, Grove, Okla., Shirley Mitzner, Shawnee, Kan., and Elizabeth Shannon, Ardmore, Okla.; and six grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers, Howard Smith, Gerald (Firpo) Smith and Homer Potter.

The Rev. Susan Hauck conducted services Sunday at Fort Pierre United Church of Christ.

Burial was at Pierre.

Memorials may be made to the Fort Pierre United Church of Christ, 190 W. Main, Fort Pierre, S.D. 57501.

Attending services from Fort Scott were Chad Frye and Gail Potter.
