U.S. Congressman. Successful in agricultural pursuits, he entered politics and was a delegate to the Republican National Convention, (1856-68). In 1871, he was elected as a Republican to the Forty-second and Forty-third Congresses, serving until 1875. An unsuccessful candidate for reelection, he resumed his agricultural pursuits until his death.
