Member of the American Legions & Knights of Columbus. He was a long resident of The Colony, Texas.

He was a veteran of the US Army retiring after 20 years at the rank of Major.

His parents were: Benjamin Joseph Long and Willie Blackwood Long. RIP



Long, Thomas Noel 62. Thomas Noel Long passed into Eternal life on April 23, 2011. He leaves behind to cherish his memory his beloved companion and friend, Rose Voorhies. Noel was born in Mineola, Texas on October 8, 1948 to Benjamin Joseph Long and Willie Blackwood Long. Noel was a graduate of Bishop Thomas K. Gorman Catholic High School (formerly Tyler Catholic High School) and graduated from Stephen F Austin College. He belonged to Alpha Tau Omega fraternity. He was a veteran of the US Army retiring after 20 years at the rank of Major. Noel spent many years as an Advanced Oil & Gas Landman and made many friends in this profession. He was active in his church and belonged to the Knights of Columbus and the American Legion. He was a long time resident of The Colony, TX. Noel is survived by his four children; Nicole Long; Adam Long, and wife Candi; Heather Long, and Jason Long; and three grandchildren: Ethan Long; Anna Lee and Emma Grace Long as well as Rose's children and grandchildren who especially enjoyed his creative cooking and gardening. Noel is survived by seven brothers and sisters: Adrienne Long Barnett; Mary Jo Long Coulter and Edmund; Eolior Long Yokus; Benjamin Dale Long and Sandy; Beadie Long Cambardella and Gene; William Audie Long and Sheila; and Cathy Long Montoya VanHoose and Roger. He is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews and cousins who remember him as a vibrant, fun-loving and generous person who enjoyed reading and discussing World History. He is survived also by many friends who especially enjoyed hunting, fishing and the great outdoors with him. Noel left this world planning his next fishing trip to Belize. Rosary and visitation is Monday April 25, 2011 at 7:00 pm at Dalton & Sons Funeral Home; 1550 North Stemmons Freeway, Lewis-ville, TX 75067 (972-436-6511). Funeral Mass will be held Tuesday, April 26, 2011 at 9:00 AM at Holy Cross Catholic Church; 7000 Morningside Dr, The Colony, TX 75056. In lieu of customary remembrances, donations may be made to Cancer Research Institute in memory of Thomas Noel Long. CRI specializes in cancer immunology.
