Leon C. Almand-Sylvester

Leon C. Almand, 84, of 107 Miller Lane, formerly of Social Circle and Albany, died Tuesday, Sept. 5, 2000.

A native of Walton County, Mr. Almand was a son of the late Milton Matthew Almand and Lena Malcolm Almand and was the widower of Evelyn Bozeman Almand. He retired from the U.S. Army Reserve with the rank of major and was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII and the Korean War. He was a former member of American Legion and Sylvester Kiwanis Club.

He was retired as an automobile salesperson, where he handled automobile financing. He was a member of Pinson Memorial United Methodist Church.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Banks Funeral Home with the Rev. Dan Williamson, Natalie Singletary and Larry Almand officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery.

Survivors include his daughter, Linda A. Singletary, Norcross; a son, Larry Almand, Sylvester; two grandchildren; and a step-granddaughter.
The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
