CHICAGO - Louise Anne (Smith) (Hanrahan) Tilden-Martorana, 64, Chicago, died Saturday, April 23, 2011, at home after battling uterine cancer for two years.
Louise was born July 14, 1946, in Canton, Ohio, to Stephen E. and Kathleen Cowles Smith. Later on, her family moved to Galesburg, where she was in the 1964 final graduating class of Corpus Christi High School.
She worked at Kroger grocery store and lived at the Catherine Club briefly, before marrying Thomas Hanrahan in 1966. She soon became a full-time mother and a very active Costa parent, often serving as accompanist for various school programs. She also was active at Corpus Christi Church as a choir member and song leader, before embarking on her college career. She graduated from Carl Sandburg College in 1990 with awards and went on to the University of Illinois School of Music, where she graduated in 1992 with a B.S. in music education, receiving highest honors, thus becoming a member of the Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi.
