Ella Van Brunt Candy, 93, widow of Dr. Albert L. Candy, who was professor of mathematics at the University of Nebraska for 42 years, and one time head of the department, died in a Lincoln hospital after three years of illness.

Ella was born in Newark, New Jersey, January 26, 1855. She taught at the Ella Willard school in New York before moving to Nebraska. She was the second wife of Albert Luther Candy. They were married in 1895 in Lincoln, Nebraska. They had a son, Bergen Van Brunt Candy. He died nine days after his birth in 1897. At the time of Albert's passing in 1945, they had been married 50 years.

One of the oldest members of First Presbyterian, she was active in church work, social welfare, the Y.W.C.A., and the Faculty Wives Women's clubs.

She was survived by a step-son, Albert MCCain Candy of LaGrange, Illinois.
