Services Held Wednesday for Alice S. Kaiser
Services were held at the Methodist church Wednesday for Mrs. Alice Kaiser who died Sunday, approximately two and one half months after her 83rd birthday.
A prayer service also was held Wednesday afternoon at Johannsen Funeral Home. Burial was in West View cemetery.
Alice S. Goon Kaiser was born in Benton County Sept. 12, 1874, near Garrison. She grew to womanhood in the Fairview community.
Her parents were Mr. and Mrs. Elias Goon.
She was married Sept. 26, 1894, to Hartman Kaiser, at the home of her parents.
The Kaisers lived on a farm south of La Porte City for 13 years and then lived for two years west of the city. In 1909 they moved to town.
She is survived by two children, Mrs. Effie Beck and Mr. Oren Kaiser of La Porte City, who had been living with her and a brother, John Goon of Cedar Rapids.
Four sisters and one brother preceded her in death.
Also surviving are two grandchildren, Mrs. Marion Baird and Mr. Roger Calkins, one great-grandson and three great-granddaughters.
Clifford Burr sang “Beautiful Isle of Somewhere” and “The Old Rugged Cross” accompanied by Mrs. Clifford Burr.
Rev. James Albertson, pastor of the Methodist church in Dysart, conducted the services.
Pall bearers were Russell Elliott, George Elliott of La Porte City, Edwin Hill of Mt. Auburn, Everett Brown of Brandon, James Skiles of Dysart and Kirk Mahood of La Porte City.
