Rita Johnbson, 87, of Unionville, MO, passed away at the Putnam County Care Center in Unionville, MO, on Thursday, April 28, 2011. She had been a resident there for about five years. Rita Lorene(Bonebright)Johnson was born in Unionville, MO, on September 28, 1923, the youngest of Elmer Adolphus and Stella Mae(Harryman)Bonebright, who preceded her in death. On June 6, 1940 she married Leonard Johnson in Unionville and he preceded her in death on March 3, 2011. Rita and Leonard lived most of their married life in Lucerne, MO, where they owned and operated a Gas and Oil business. Rita was a homemaker who invested her life in her family, including rearing their two daughters, Louise and Linda. She was involved in community activities around the area including being a 4-H leader, a Sunday School teacher at the Lucerne Christian Church and a member of the Newtown Order of the Eastern Star. Rita was known as a wonderful cook and an excellent seamstree. She enjoyed attending ballgames with Leonard, golfing at the Unionville Country Club, and square dancing, making matching costumes for her and Leonard. She and Leonard moved to Unionville in 1993 and joined the First Christian Church in Unionville.

Rita is survived by two daughters, Louise McBain and life partner Jack Bohmbach of Cincinnati, IA; and Linda Steele and husband Carl of Westfield,IN.
Surviving grandchildren are Brian Harrington and special friend Cindy of Las Vegas, NV, and children Dusty and Andy; Mike Steele and wife Vicky and their children Christopher, Michael, and Zachary; Becky Drlik and husband Scott and their children Grant, Morgan, and Brady; and Joe Steele and his children Jessica, Connor, Sophia, and Lillie, all of Westfield, IN.
Others who preceded Rita in death were her brothers, John, Jim, Albert, Raymond, and Carl Bonebright, and her sisters, Mary Zemman, Ora Lee Phillips, and Emma Jean Moore.

A celebration of life for Rita Johnson will be held at Playle and Jones Family Funeral Home in Unionville, MO, on Tuesday, May 3, 2011, at 10:30 am. A visitation will be Monday, May 2, 2011, from 6-8 pm. Interment will be at the Unionville Cenetery in Unionville, MO. Memorials for Rita Johnson are suggested to the PC Cafe and Resource Center and the Putnam County Care Center.
