Ray F. Poston, 61, a longtime former Sioux Cityan, died Sunday at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Fred Dunagan, at Astoria, Ore.
He was born at Clear Lake, Ia. 24 January 1891, but resided in Sioux City most of his life. He was employed here by the Sioux City Transit Co. from 1914 until 1945, when he left for Oregon because of his illness. He was a charter member here of local 779, Amalgamated Association of Street, Electric Railway & Motor Coach employees of America; a member of the Odd Fellows & of the Eagles Lodge in Astoria.
He is survived by 3 daughters, Mrs. Dunagan, Mrs. Oren Marquis of Tillamook, Ore. & Mrs. Verl Kaino of Sioux City; a son, Arvid of Sioux City; 2 sisters, Mrs. William Rickard of Sioux City & Mrs. Clarence Luchsinger of Dubuque, Ia.; 2 brothers, C. H. Poston of Sioux City.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Anderson Funeral Home. Rev. Walter A. Voss will officiate. Abe Linn & Dave Rodgers will have charge of Odd Fellows lodge services at the funeral home & graveside. Burial will be in Marcus, Ia.
Pallbearers will be Gus Gunther, Arthur Oleson, Everett Sager, Jack Robinson, Dave Ramenden, and Jake Crawford.
