Obituary:
Mrs. Katie Magnolia East, 42, wife of C.A. East, died Saturday afternoon at 3:15 o'clock at her home at Rock Springs, Ala., following an illness of several months.
Mrs. East was a native of Tennessee and came to Alabama from Rockwood, in that state. She was a devout Christian woman and had been a member of the Christian church since early childhood. She was an active member of the First Christian church of Gadsden. She was a good wife, mother and neighbor and will be missed in the home, community and church.
Besides her husband she is survived by the following children: Dan, Sherman, Charles Jr., James, John, Edith and Grace. She is also survived by her mother, Mrs. R.D. Hamby (Nancy Eliza Jane Nance Hamby), Tamroy, W.Va., and the following sisters: Mrs. E.S. Hughes (Evelyn), Pineville, Ky.; Mrs. Rachel Roberts, Tamroy, W.Va.; Mrs. J.C. Shadden (Alma), Chattanooga, Tenn; Mrs. W.N. Fulks (Mattie), Mrs. Isaac Witt (Robbie), Mrs. C.C. Haga (Emmaline), and Mrs. C.C. Potter (Nan), all of Rockwood, Tenn.
The funeral was conducted at 2:00 o'clock Monday afternoon at the First Christian church by Rev. E.R. Clarkson, pastor, and the body was laid to rest in Forest cemetery, Gadsden, Ala.,
