U.S. Congressman. He graduated from St. Olaf College, in 1917, engaged in railroading, agricultural pursuits and was publisher of a Norwegian-Language newspaper, (1920-28). In addition, he was publisher-editor of the Polk County Leader, (1928-32) and secretary to Minnesota House of Representative Richard T. Buckler, (1934-42). In 1943, he was elected as a Farmer-Laborite to the Seventy-eighth Congress and as a Republican to the Seventy-ninth Congress and to the next four succeeding Congresses, serving until 1955. An unsuccessful candidate for reelection, he worked in public relations until his death at age 56.
