Dawn Valleda Allen Dennis, 66, of Villamont, died Friday, April 23, 2010, at Roanoke Memorial Hospital. She was born in Bedford County on April 14, 1944, a daughter of the late, Homer Franklin Allen and Lina Ramsey Allen. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her brothers, Russell and Bill Allen; her sisters, Virginia Falls, Hazel Burnette, Elva Adair, Lena Mae Sligh and Lucille Gerngross. She was a member of Montvale Baptist Church and a lifetime member of the Montvale Volunteer Rescue Squad. Valleda loved her family without end and will be missed by all. She is survived by her husband of 50 years, James "Jimmy" Dennis; her children, Victoria "Vicky" Hawkins, James Frederick "Jay" Dennis and wife, Tamara; her grandchildren, Matt Trevilian, Hannah Trevilian and Johnathan Dennis; one greatgrandchild, Jody Trevilian, all of Blue Ridge; two sisters, Mildred Overstreet, of Moneta and Sheron Cheek and husband, Roger, of Bedford; many nieces and nephews. Her family would like to thank the Vascular Intensive Care Unit at Roanoke Memorial for all of their care and to Dr. Keeley and Dr. Skelton. Memorials may be made to the Montvale Volunteer Rescue Squad. A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Monday, April 26, 2010, at Montvale Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the Blue Ridge Church of the Brethren. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Burch-Messier Funeral Home, 317 W. Main Street, Bedford 540-586-7360.
