Born the daughter of James Rufus Langford (1861 – 1905) and Mary E. Barton Langford (1862 – 1944), she married in 1912 to Oscar Virgil Goines (1892 – 1968) and their children were Mary Goines, Johnnie Lee Goines (1916 – ), Buron Goines (1918 – 1971) and Oscar Talmadge Goines (1928 – ). In 1916 they were living in Quitman, Wood County, Texas, and by 1928 Oscar was a farmer in Gilmer, Upshur Co., Texas. By 1945 she was living in Burke in Angelina Co., Texas where others in the Langford and Goines family were living.

Services for Nellie Goines, 90, of Diboll were Wednesday at the Gipson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Tim York and Rev. Leonard Ward officiating. Burial was in the Mt. Zion Cemetery in Apple Springs.

Mrs. Goines died Monday in a Lufkin hospital. Born in Hawkins, she resided in Angelina County for 52 years. She was a
homemaker and a member of the Burke Baptist Church.

She was pre-deceased by her husband, Oscar, in 1968 and by a son, Buron in 1971.

Survivors: daughters, Mary Bell of Diboll and Johney L. Caples of Lufkin; son, Talmadge Goines of Beaumont; sister, Itasca McGaughey of Gilmer; 12 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren.
