Scientist. He was well-known for his satirical and moral writings, which protested France's Pacific Ocean nuclear tests and for his generic experiments in parthenogenesis. During world War I, He served at the military hospital of Val-de-Grace in Paris, France. He later conducted research on genes and chromosomes and in 1959 he became a member of the French Academy. His works include: "La Loi Des Riches" (1920), "Julien: Ou Une Conscience" (1928), and "Inquietudes D'Un Biologiste" (1967).
