Eppie Leathy Morris was born on 29 January 1897 in Keokee, Virginia, to William Henry Morris and Ora L Moore. She married much older John Douglas Moore, 7 November 1913, when she was sixteen years old, in Harlan County, Kentucky. Their children were Alexander, Elma, John, Jerry, Hamel, William, Marcella, and Darel Moore. Eppie's younger sister, Dovie Morris, also lived with them. The Moore family appeared on the U.S. Census in Lee County in 1920 and 1930. Eppie was widowed when John died in 1947. She died, 27 February 1976, aged 79, in Keokee, Virginia, and was buried with her husband at Morris Cemetery in Keokee, Virginia.
