Raymond L. Olmer, 88 of 517 Oakhurst Drive, died Tuesday at Samaritan North. A private family memorial service was 9:30 a.m. today at Community Congregational Chapel, with the Rev. Dan Schadt officiating. Rites of cremation will be buried at the Memorial Park Cemetery, Skokie, Ill.
He was born Aug 24, 1907 in Chicago, Ill., to Paul and Elvira Chaser Olmer. He married Lauretta McDaniel, May 2, 1934, in Wilmette, Ill. She died March 29, 1988. He was a 1924 graduate of Chicago High School. He was a veteran of WWII serving in the United States Army from 1943 to December 1945. He served in communications with the occupational army in Germany.
He was employed as a master switchman with the Illinois Bell Telephone Company for 46 years. He was a member of International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 165, Chicago. Survivors include a son, James Fuidge of Clinton; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother and two sisters.
