Ira Odell Felty, age 74, of Crown Point, passed away at home on Sunday, November 10, 2002. He was born in Aberdeen, Kentucky on November 9, 1928 to Ira G. and Gertrude (Coots) Felty. He attended grade school at Possum Hollar and Embry School Butler County. At age 14 he went to live with his grandparents, H.C. and Mary Felty in Bremen, Kentucky. He attended Bremen High School and graduated in 1948 along with eighteen classmates. He and his classmates have kept close contact over the years. Within days of graduating Odell joined Inland Steel Company. He attended Purdue University Calumet Campus through a company sponsored program and received a Mechanical, Engineering Certificate. After over 40 years of service he retired as Supervisor of Maintenance.

He is survived by his wife, Alice (Moore) Felty, two sons, Edward Odell of California and Ronald Clay (his wife, Becky) of Hebron; daughter, Beverly (husband, Dan) Enslow of Bloomington, IN; step-daughter Betty Rae of Indianapolis and step-son, Alan (wife, Dianne) Pinkowski of Chesterton; 23 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ira and Gertrude Felty, two brothers, one sister and two step-sons.
Funeral services Thursday, November 14, 2002 at 12:00 Noon at the Burns Funeral Home (corner 101st and Broadway), Merrillville/Crown Point Chapel with Pastor Chris Shrum of the Hebron Christian Church officiating. Interment, Calvary Cemetery, Portage. Friends may visit with the family at the Burns Funeral Home on Wednesday from 2:00 to 8:00 P.M. In lieu of flowers, please consider making donations to St. Anthony Hospice, 203 Franciscan Drive, Crown Point, IN 46307 or to the Scholorship Fund of Bremen High School, Breman, Kentucky.
