He was born Sept. 9, 1886 near Vadalia in Owen County, as was the son of the late Sam and Srepta (Stevens) Wilson who were some of the "old settlers" of this area, having moved to the Center Point area when Homer was a young boy. He attended the former Center Point School.
As most lads of his age, he started working on the family farm but later he went to work in the coal mines and he moved to the state of Colorado where he worked in the mines there for about 35 years before retiring and moving back to the Brazil community.
He was preceded in death by his wife and three sisters, Mrs. Lula Hill, Mrs. May Fisher and Mrs. Gladys Dunagan. Also preceding him in death were two brothers, James and William Wilson. He was a member of the United Mine Workers of America. Although he was not a member of any particular church, he attended church in Brazil at the Nazarene Church with some of his friends.
Surviving are: a step-daughter, Mrs. Jess (Marie) Campbell, Colorado, and one sister, Mrs. Edith Luten, Bloomington, Ill.; one brother Dennis, Philadelphia, Pa.; a brother-in-law, the Rev. Carlos Dunagan (retired), who formerly resided in Center Point and is now a patient in a Brazil Health Center, and several nieces and nephews.
