US Congressman. Born in Sterling, Massachusetts, he engaged in newspaper work in Chicago, Illinois, (1884-86) and then entered the insurance business in 1897. Relocating to New Jersey, he accepted a position as vice president with an insurance company at Newark, New Jersey, in 1903. In 1907, he was elected as a Democrat to the Sixtieth Congress, serving until 1909. An unsuccessful candidate for reelection, he resumed the insurance business with the Puritan Life Insurance Company in Providence, Rhode Island. He died at age 58 in Newark, New Jersey.
