EARLY RESIDENT OF CITY PASSED AWAY SUNDAY

Mrs. James Hall, born in Sauk Centre 76 years ago, passed away in a hospital at Thief River Falls Sunday morning, February 18. She had been making her home with her son, Orrin and wife, at Thief River Falls, and was taken to the hospital two weeks prior to death.

Mrs. Hall, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Capser, among the earliest of Sauk Centre's residents, was born February 17, 1869, in a house located where the Merchants national Bank is now situated. Her father conducted a general merchandise store at the front of the home. She was among the first white girls born in this city, and her brother, Henry Capser was the first white boy born in Sauk Centre. Her death came just one day after her birthday anniversary and she was 76 years old when called.

Completing her early education in Sauk Centre, Mrs. Hall attended St. Joseph Academy in St. Paul. On November22, 1892, she was united in marriage to James Hall, who preceded her in death. She was the mother of three sons and two daughters, one of whom, Verna, passed away in 1932.

Surviving children are: Edward of Great Falls, Montana; Lawrence, of Minneapolis; Orrin, of Thief River falls; and Mrs. Ralph Koerner, (Winnifred) of Hollywood, California. Other surviving relatives are four grandchildren and three brothers. The brothers are Henry and Albert Capser, of St. Paul, and George Capser, of Crookston.

Mrs. Hall lived in this city practically all her life and through her many years of residence made a host of friends, who sincerely mourn her death. She was a friendly woman and never missed the opportunity to speak a friendly work as she walked along our streets. A few years ago she left this city to make her home with her son, but returned for short periods to be among old friends.

Funeral services were held Tuesday morning at the Church of Our Lady of the Angels. The Rev. John Bettendorf sang the requiem mass and interment was made in Oakland cemetery on the family lot beside the grave of her husband. Pallbearers were: B. O. Vogel, John Weisser, Andrew Besser, William Cumming, S. G. Schwarzbauer, and Chris Larsen.

Honorary pallbearers were members of the Christian Mothers Society, of which she was a faithful member.

Attending the last rites from a distance were the follow relatives and friends: Edward Hall, of great Falls, Montana; Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Hall and son, of Minneapolis; Mr. and Mrs. Orrin Hall, of Thief River Falls; George Capser, of Crookston; and Mr. and Mrs. O. B. Woodman, of Grey Eagle. The brothers, Henry and Albert, were unable to attend owing to illness.
