James Thomas Queenan Jr., 63, died Tuesday, May 3, 2011, after a long battle with heart disease in Milwaukee.

He was born July 13, 1947, in Chicago, to Agnes and James Queenan Sr., and was the beloved brother of Bobby Queenan, who preceded him in death.

He spent many years in magazine sales and retired because of his health five years ago from Practical Communications Inc.

His charisma touched the hearts of all who knew him, and he celebrated life every day with optimism, compassion and laughter. He will be missed and never will be forgotten.

He was a true soul mate to his wife of 17 years, Robin; a loving father to Corinne (John) Conway, Kelly (Phil) Hix, Stacey (Michael) Sieczkowski, Lauren Szafranski and Stephen Szafranski; and a proud grandfather to Jimmy, Aubrey, Hannah, Natalie, Aiden and Archer. He also held a special place in the hearts of many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

The visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, May 6, at Colonial Funeral Home, 591 Ridgeview Road, McHenry. Prayers will be said at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 7, at the funeral home, followed by the funeral at 10:30 a.m. at The Church of Holy Apostles, 5211 W. Bull Valley Road, McHenry. Interment will follow in Ascension Cemetery in Libertyville.

A celebration of his life will follow the burial, and all are invited.
