Austin.—In this city on Monday, March 28th 1898, Orville Austin in the 69th year of his age.

Deceased was well known in this community he having lived either near or in the city seventeen years. He was an excellent farmer, and until his health failed him, owned and operated a farm on the Melrose road, about three miles from the city. He was a man of strict integrity, a good citizen, and universally esteemed.

He was born in Steuben county, N. Y. in 1829, and before the war he removed to Wisconsin, from which state he enlisted in the war of the rebellion, serving in the 7th Wisconsin Artilery. He was wounded and taken prisoner by Gen. Forrest's command, and was soon exchanged. After the war he came to Minnesota, settling at Madelia. Seventeen years ago he came to Sauk Centre and purchased the farm above indicated. He has been in ill health for some time, but his death at last was quite unexpected. He leaves a wife and eight children, seven of them are sons, one of whom only, Harry Austin, resides here. He was buried on Wednesday, Rev. C. W. Lawson officiating.
