US Congressman. He graduated from Albany Academy in 1892 and from Williams College Massachusetts, in 1896. During World War I, he was head of the employment division of the Watervliet New York Government Arsenal and served on a special mission to France for the Y.M.C.A. as a member of the National War Work Council in 1918. He was the treasurer-vice president of Cluett, Peabody Company, (1900-29) and chairman of the board of directors (1929-37). In 1937, he was elected as a Republican to the Seventy-fifth, Seventy-sixth and Seventy-seventh Congresses, serving until 1943. Not a candidate for re-nomination, he retired from politics.
