Trooper Ingram was killed on Interstate 15 south of Nephi. At 9:30 p.m., the 39-year-old victim was parked in the right-hand emergency lane at milepost #208, writing a warning citation to a motorist. While Trooper Ingram was seated in his patrol vehicle, he was struck from behind by a semi-truck. The impact crushed the patrol vehicle, killing Trooper Ingram instantly. The driver of the truck later pleaded guilty to a charge of negligent homicide. Trooper Ingram was married and the father of two children. He is buried in Vine Bluff Cemetery, Nephi. In 1998, the Utah Highway Patrol Association posted its first memorial cross at milepost #208. Trooper Ingram's bronze name plaque is sponsored by the Utah Highway Patrol Association.

Randy Kenneth Ingram, age 39, died October 5, 1994 as a result of an automobile accident, while on duty with the Utah Highway Patrol.

Born September 14, 1955 in Nephi, Utah, to Kenneth R. and Phyllis Anderson Ingram. He married Carlene Provstgaard, July 17, 1987 in Payson, Utah. Randy was a Highway Patrol Trooper for the Utah Highway Patrol for 10 years. He was a member of the Utah National Guard for 20 years and served in Desert Storm. He was raised and educated in Nephi.Survived by his wife, of Mona; and two children, both of Mona; parents, Kenneth and Phyllis Ingram; sister, all of Nephi; grandmother, Vera Anderson, of Moroni; in-laws, Jack and Joyce Provstgaard, of Payson; Karl and Sharon Shuler; Doug and Jeannine Patten; nine nephews and nieces.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, October 10, 1994 in the Nephi Stake Center, 351 North 100 West. Friends may call Sunday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the Anderson Funeral Home, 94 West 300 North, Nephi, and at the stake center from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. prior to services. Burial in the Vine Bluff Cemetery, Nephi, Utah.
