ARROYO GRANDE - A funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Friday in the Memorial Garden of Arroyo Grande Cemetery for James Layton Blakemore, 84, of Arroyo Grande.
He died June 21, 1997, at a San Luis Obipo hospital.
Mr. Blakemore was born Oct. 9, 1912, in Pico Rivera.
He was a resident of the Central Coast since 1958. Mr. Blakemore was a member of Community Presbyterian Church in Pismo Beach where he was a session member, a member of Arroyo Lodge #274 F&AM, the American Legion, and a volunteer with many organizations, including Harvest Bag. Mr. Blakemore was a veteran of World War II, serving with the Navy. He worked with Jordano’s Wholesale Foods for 25 years.
Survivors include his wife since Dec. 21, 1939, Wanda Blakemore; daughter Sharon Libsack of Santa Maria; two granddaughters; and two great-grandsons.
